Grid 14×14 almost carte blanche grid.
Preamble Answers to 1, 2, 3 and 4 down must be Playfair-encoded before entry into the grid and are clued without a common definition, although one is the odd man out and the source of the theme. Solvers should use stars to represent the points in the journey taken by one of the across answers on its way back to the devotee of the keyword. One other down answer is unclued but plays a part in the theme.
All clues (other than the Playfair clues) are presented in their normal order. Solvers need not draw bars in the diagram. Solvers are recommended to audio sources, and to Collins for some places and for three names - and are warned against an error in ODQ5 which they should not, in this instance, copy.
